HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It's a non-surgical way to lift and tighten skin with no needles, no cuts and no downtime.

The device sends focused ultrasound energy through the skin's surface to deeper layers, the same layer a surgeon tightens in a facelift. It creates tiny points of heat there while the top of the skin stays untouched.

That heat makes the tissue contract straight away and tells your body to build new collagen over the following 2 to 3 months, so skin gradually looks firmer and more lifted.

You'll feel warm, prickly pulses for a moment along each line. Most people go straight back to normal life afterwards. One treatment usually lasts 12 to 18 months.

What it is

High-intensity focused ultrasound concentrates sound energy below the surface. At selected focal points, heat starts a tissue response. Depth and energy must match the device, area and anatomy.

How it works

Controlled heating affects collagen and stimulates remodelling. Studies of specific systems show improvement in some people with mild to moderate laxity. Results are usually more modest than surgery.

Realistic results

Improvement is gradual. Studies commonly assess change around 3 months, with some following patients to 6 or 12 months. An early tight feeling is not the final result. The outcome depends on the actual system and treatment plan.

Duration & frequency

Allow 30 to 90 minutes, area dependent. Start with assessment, not an automatic course. Some systems use one treatment followed by review around 3 months. Repeat or maintenance timing must follow the specific device and clinical response. Monthly treatment is not a default recommendation.

Combining treatments

HIFU addresses firmness. A facial or later texture treatment might address a separate concern. Separate appointments are planned according to the device instructions and recovery. More treatments do not guarantee more lift.
